Further Stagecoach Changes

As of 22nd September this year, the 6X Stagecoach bus will no longer stop at Canterbury West station. The bus connecting Canterbury with Whitstable and Herne Bay formerly had three stops between St. Dunstan’s Church and the Bus Station, all of which will no longer be accessible by the 6X bus. Due to a new route, the bus will instead loop around along London Road, and steer clear completely of the train station and Westgate. In light of a traffic trial conducted throughout last year, it was originally proposed for busses and cars to resume their former route from…

How to do University With Depression

If you, like me, have the same insane notion that I began my university career with a thorough determination to learn rather than drink and have sex with almost everything in a mile radius, then it is not a wasted one. Yes, I have thrown up at uni, it was a delicate mixture of cider and instant noodles, I’ve stumbled home in the early hours of the morning, I’ve laid out on a dew-covered lawn staring at the stars discussing life with strangers – and I’ve smoked some things. The aim of gaining a healthy balance of partying and…

The Four Stages of a Year Abroad

Before the start of my year abroad I was bombarded with information of what I was to expect. “The best year of your life”, “a lot of fun”, “partying all the time”, “challenging” and “difficult”. I can only assume that other students have experienced these stages, maybe not in the same sequence or only certain…

Do The Time Warp At The Marlowe

Canterbury was doing the Time Warp this week at the Marlowe, as the Rocky Horror Show rolled into town. Celebrating its 40th year, the UK tour of the hit musical is a fresh as the first performance all those years ago, delighting audiences with its risqué and cheeky humour, certainly entertaining the hoards of hen parties in attendance. As an audience you are encouraged to dress up as your favourite character to add to the atmosphere, which does provide some priceless pre-performance entertainment. Richard O’Brien’s incredibly camp musical is as entertaining as it is terrifying, particularly with the addition…

Why Tottenham Must Sell Gareth Bale

The worst news you can hear as a football fan is that your star player has been sold. As a Celtic fan I understand this more than most, with our two best players departing this summer for the English Premier League. Yet I still believe Tottenham would be crazy to reject a world record bid for Gareth Bale. Bale has become Tottenham’s talisman. While Andre Villas-Boas possesses a squad full of talented players; Gareth Bale is without doubt the best. At times last year he single-handedly won Tottenham games with a number of late goals. So why do I…
