How to: The ultimate Halloween look using just your everyday make-up
For Halloween, using your own, everyday make-up is a great way to get creative and save loads of money that would otherwise have been spent on a costume you would feel obliged to wear every year. So, to help you get ready for All Hallows’ Eve, here is how you can use your everyday cosmetics to create this super simple, yet effective, Halloween look.
To create the look all you need is just your everyday foundation, some black eyeliner, a dark eye shadow, and red/dark lipstick.
Step 1… Start with a clean canvas!
Step 2…
Using your palest foundation, apply evenly across all of your face; this layer of foundation will act as your base. Then, if you want to cover up any blemishes or under-eye circles, use concealer. Think of it as if you are getting ready for a normal day. If you want to be slightly more dead looking for Halloween, using talcum powder is a great way to make your face look pale.
Step 3…
Using a red lipstick (the darker the better), colour your eyelid and around your eye, then smudge it gently using your fingertips. The red will help create a swollen, bruised look.
Step 4…
Using black eyeliner, colour in your entire eyelid. For best results, darken the inner corners of your eye to create a more sullen and shrunken look. Once coloured in, using your fingertips, gently smudge your eyelid to create a bruised effect. One of the great things about this look is that you can make it as dark, or as smudgy as you want it to be!
Step 5…
To darken your eyes further, use your darkest eye shadow (preferably black or grey) over your eyelids and underneath your eyes. Applying this will build up the smudged and bruised look. Again, get creative with this, the messier the better!
Step 6…
Time to draw on some gruesome veins! Using your lipstick and eyeliner, apply thin red and black lines under and around your eyes. The fun thing about this is that it doesn’t have to be perfect! Using a thin brush to apply the lipstick is ideal for this as it helps make the veins look more realistic.
Step 7…
Next, outline your lips with black eyeliner. This thick black line around your lips really Gothicises your face, and is ideal for Halloween celebrations. The shape you choose to outline your lips is completely up to you!
Step 8…
To add that final bit of drama to your face, using a blusher brush and a dark eye shadow, lightly contour your cheekbones to create a gaunt and deathly look.
And Voila!
You’ll find that getting ready for Halloween has never been so cheap, easy, and fun!
