Manon Charles rounds up entertainment events this week (Monday 1st – Sunday 7th December). From enjoying the pantomime to donning your best superhero costumes, there is plenty to do on and off campus this week!

Beat the Monday blues by heading to Cuban for a night of fun and dancing. Student Republic are bringing back their annual Belvedere Experiment, where they allow their customers to try their vodka in various different forms, including vodka infused fruit. This is not one to miss.

On Tuesday, warm your souls with some good food in Club Burrito. This Bar/Café has gained a reputation in Canterbury for their amazing Mexican food (from burritos to tacos) and their live music nights. Head over for a memorable night.

This Wednesday head to Venue for the weekly Jelli Baby experience. This week, you are in charge of the playlist, as they host YouChoose night. Simply post your request on the event wall and get ready to play DJ.

Fancy a night out without spending too much money? Head to Cuban for Trash on Thursday, where drinks are only £1! Alternatively, if you don’t fancy queuing for Cuban in the cold for hours on end, head over to Mungo’s for the weekly Student Stand-up night and prepare to laugh.

This year, Student Media Groups from University of Kent and Christ Church are raising money for SNAAP (www.snaap.org.uk), a Special Needs Advisory and Activities Project operating in Kent. The theme this year is Superheroes. There will be events happening all week but this Friday Operation Heroes Winter Fundraiser is taking over Mungo’s from midday to midnight. There will be live music and a DJ from 9pm and challenges and games to be won. So don your best costume and #SNAAPintoaction this week!

Fancy getting into the Christmas spirit this weekend? Head over to the Gulbenkian where they’re playing host to Christmas films and shows throughout the month of December. This Saturday catch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (PG) at 20.15 or watch Three Half Pints’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ at 19.30.

For a special treat to end the week, why not head over to The Marlowe Theatre and catch a viewing of the pantomime Aladdin? The panto features an all-star cast including Scott Maslen (EastEnders) as Abanazar, and is here in Canterbury until January 11th. This Sunday see it at 1pm or 5pm.
