New noodle bar opens in Canterbury

A new oriental food outlet called YoYo Noodle has established its presence in Canterbury city centre, on St George’s Street, taking over from the old Phones4U lot.

The food chain was granted permission to use the space by Canterbury City Council on Wednesday (9 March).

However, despite the food chain’s welcome, the reception remains bittersweet, as workers of the now redundant Phones4U are claiming to have been left “heartbroken,” according to a statement posted on the Phones4U website.

Many proposals and plans have been put in place with regards to the layout of the food outlet. For example it has been suggested that the unit will be made up of restaurant and takeaway facilities set across three floors. More specifically, the ground and first floor will be open to customers, and the second floor will be reserved especially for storage and staff in the building.

YoYo Noodle’s successful application also received approval from Russel Adams, from Adams Planning and Development. He claimed that the proposed use would “diversify the food offer, with healthy and fresh food for consumption on and off-site”.
