Elections Round Up

Elections results night at the venue proved to be mass of emotions as candidates cried, danced, and hugged their supporters with joy throughout what was a tense and nerve-racking night.

The results for the different positions were staggered throughout the night to ensure candidate’s hearts were kept firmly in their mouths. The fact that the elections were online this year boosted the number of votes cast to 3,600, about 600 up from last year.

The results for the full time officers of the union started off with a teary eyed Helen Palmer derailing Thomas ‘the tank engine’ Bates. The losing candidates on stage showed incredible amounts camaraderie as a delighted Caz Brooker won VP activities and Cai Robbins for VP sports. ‘Little’ Tom Page thrillingly overturned Simon Culpepper in the last round of voting, who had before than lead in every round of voting.

The night itself ended with Tom Christian being overwhelmingly elected in a fight with his fellow contenders which lasted only one single round of voting. His overcoming of challengers Simon Taylor, who mounted a noble resistance and Jack Groom ensures him not just another year as a full-time officer within Kent Union but makes him the ultimate face of Kent Union.
