A 20 year old female pedestrian was the victim of a fatal car accident that took place on St Stephen’s Hill yesterday afternoon (Thursday 23rd February 2012). The woman, originally from London, was hit by a blue Ford Fiesta near the junction with Downs Road at approximately 2:30pm. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Today floral tributes have been placed at the site where the accident took place.
Investigating officer PC Dave Adams has called for any witnesses to contact the police.
“St Stephen’s Hill would have been busy with both pedestrians and traffic at that time of the day and I ask anyone who was in the area at the time to cast their minds back and try and remember if they saw anything that could be relevant to our inquiries”.
Witnesses with any information regarding the collision call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit Appeal Line on 01622 798538.
