For a third year in a row ‘Lounge on the Farm’ one of Kent’s most popular music is set to return to Merton Farm in Canterbury. The event will be held from 11th – 13th of July and early-bird tickets are already available for the event.
This year the festival organisers promise that it will be bigger and bolder than ever before and a line up that is growing day by day seems to prove a commitment to this aim. The line up for the event is split across seven stages, interestingly named; The Cow Shed; The Farm Folk; The Sheep Dip, The Hoedown; Further Tent, The Festival Folly and finally Tractor Trash. Amongst the 160 bands set to play are ‘Billy Childish’, ‘Art Brut’ and the ‘Los Campesinos’.
The festival however isn’t just about and indeed has never been just about the music being offered. The festival is set around ‘The Village Green’, a place where people come to meet, greet and take advantage of locally produced food and drink available, from the onsite hog roast to a three course meal from the ‘The Goods Shed’ gypsy caravan restaurant. Aside from the food, all sourced under the festivals “buy local, eat seasonal” policy, a very special local cider brewed by Rick Stein Food Heroes Pawley Farm will be on offer for the first time this year.
The festival is a must for anyone who likes the rural outdoor setting of a farm based festival combined with a heavyweight line-up of local Kent bands and is considerably cheaper and more accessible than many of the heavily commercialised festivals up and down the country.
Adult camping tickets cost £65 (children £35) if booked under the early-bird deal (£85 otherwise) while a day ticket will cost you £35 (children £20). More information can be found along with ticket booking details and the full entertainment line up at the festival website www.loungeonthefarm.co.uk.
