A University of Kent student is hoping to be named the first person ever to send a TV advert into space. Dan Fryer, an English Literature student, has entered a 30 seconds advert into Doritos’ new competition ‘You Make It We Play It’.
The winner will have their advert aired on national television on June 15th, receive a prize of £20,000 and be flown to a space centre in Norway to see their advert broadcast out into space.
Fryer came up with the idea for the advert, which is currently the most viewed entry, while in a café and put it together over a period of 2 weeks. He said, “My concept for the advert was to have someone thinking about where Doritos tortilla chips come from”.
His video has already been named ‘Video of the week’ securing him a place at a film school this August and he must now wait until June 11th when all videos will be put to a public vote to find a winner. Speaking about the possibility of winning the competition Fryer said, “If I won the money I would probably give some to those who helped me. It would be cool if it did get shown in space”.
