Kent 2s Rugby Blow Away CCCU

A ferocious display from the Kent 2s Men’s Rugby team saw them be a class above their Canterbury Christ Church counterparts, running out 56-8 winners.

The fixture, the only rugby match to be staged at Parkwood, was well attended by fans of both sides, but it was the home fans who were the happier when the final whistle blew.

Kent actually started much slower than their rivals, who took full advantage of the penalty they were giving, converting the kick to take a very early 0-3 lead. But that’s when the barrage started.

Despite taking the lead, CCCU never looked like building upon it in the first half, and a magnificent attacking display from the Kent side saw five tries being scored within the first forty minutes.

Although a few conversions were missed, the kicker hindered by the blustery conditions, the score was 31-3 to Kent at halftime, and very comfortable viewing for the home crowd.

As the second half got underway, it was more of the same from the Kent team, who continued to punish sloppy play from their opponents.

Four more tries went over, including one incredible solo effort from the Kent player who travelled over 70m and left the CCCU players looking silly as he crashed over the try line.

With some kicks scored and some kicks missed, the final score saw Kent run out 56-8, with another Varsity point on the board for Kent, and sparking scenes of jubilation on the pitch.
