InQuire’s very own Website Sport Editor, Henry Sandercock, has put together his picks for the soundtrack to your summer. From Bombay Bicycle Club to Blondie to Bob Marley, this playlist has got it all. Listen to the full playlist below and have a read of what Henry thinks of each song.

Or if you’ve got any better ideas, comment below and we’ll add them to the playlist!

Take Me – Rüfüs: Bit of a guilty pleasure but it is summer reincarnate.

This is Real – Frankie Valli: It’s summer but it’s raining or you’ve just been dumped. This song fills that type of criteria.

Don’t Look Back into the Sun – The Libertines: Also a great Saturday song, don’t ask me why!

Fever – The Black Keys: The ultimate beer advert band. Pop a cider to this!

This Kiss – Kissy Sell Out: Again, another guilty pleasure but hey, don’t judge.

Lovely Day – Bill Withers: if you can overcome the mental scars this song probably gave you in 127 Hours, it’s definitely one to get your ‘summer walk’ on to.

Call me – Blondie: Nothing like the Blond-ster on a summer’s day!

Lights Out, Words Gone – Bombay Bicycle Club: A very mellow song, will send you off to sleep if you’re in the sun (make sure you’re wearing sun-cream).

I shot the sheriff – Bob Marley: Bob just HAS to be on this list, no questions.

On the road again – Canned Heat: A classic summer tune!

Mint Car – The Cure: this is the soundtrack to the montage of your youth.

Golden Years – David Bowie: originally written for Elvis in the height of Bowie’s cocaine addiction. Also a great summer tune.

Heebie Jeebies – The Rifles: If you’re familiar with Made in Chelsea (which I’m most definitely not…) you’ll have heard these guys.

Nuthin’ but a G Thang – Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg: A ‘Phat’ track (parental advisory)

Black Gold – Foals: This reminds me of swimming pools…

Hawaiian Air – Friendly Fires: A song about the fear of flying. Some people should at least try and be happy about going to Hawaii…

Give it Up – K.C. and the Sunshine Band: a fixture of every decent night out I’ve ever had at university.

September – Earth, Wind and Fire: A summer track despite the name.

Waterfall – The Stone Roses: The guitar on this is the closest thing to feeling an actual ray of sunshine I’ve found, other than the real thing of course.

Take a Walk – Passion Pit: You’re thinking of making a film about your summer? Use this as your soundtrack.

You Make My Dreams – Hall and Oates: Best known from 500 days of Summer. Enough said really!
