10:00 – 11:00 – Careers Fair 2018 – ACCESS HOUR

Do you find the prospect of the Careers Fair daunting? Do crowds make you feel anxious or are you concerned about physical access issues? This year the Careers & Employability Service are adding an additional hour to the Careers Fair to give you extra time and space to meet with employers and organisations in a less crowded environment before the main event begins (of course you are welcome to stay for this too!)

Venue: KS15 Open to: Modern Languages EP Points Value: 5

Ever considered studying, working or experiencing life abroad? Come to this talk which will ‘cover student exchanges, European Voluntary Service, internships, work placement schemes and other similar opportunities available to all young people aged 13-30 in Europe.’ Allow yourself to broaden your horizons and experienced the world from a different perspective.

12:00 – 13:00 – Developing as a Language Professional

Venue: ILT Open to: Modern Languages EP Points Value: 5

In this talk, Jane Galbriathe from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), and Michael Wells, an experienced practicing translator and interpreter, will look at how students can develop as a language professional after leaving university. This will include details of qualifications offered by the CIOL in translating, interpreting, languages for Business and Bilingual Skills.

14:00 – 14:30 – Video Skills Session

Do video interviews confuse you? M&G Prudential will be presenting a session on these exact processes, Video Interviews. This will give you an idea on why organisations use video interviews, how you can stand out in them and some top tips on how to succeed in this stage of the recruitment process. 15:00 – 16:00 – ASPIRE: Start-Up Ideas Hack

Where do entrepreneurs get their inspiration for starting a business? Join ASPIRE to discover how business is built around solving problems in the world around us and how entrepreneurship can develop key skills to enhance your employability. For anyone looking to start their own business, or at least anyone interested in entrepreneurship, this is a brilliant exploration into the reason behind their success.

18:00 – 19:30 – Starting a career in Theatre

Venue: Jarman Studio 1 Open to: Drama EP Points Value: 10

This will be a friendly session and a chance to ask questions to two award-winning early-career theatre makers from the White Slate Theatre, formed when two friends co-directed a new play together for their final Masters production at University of Kent. Through this production they found a fruitful, balanced and exciting dynamic and decided to set up their own company. White Slate Theatre have a group of collaborators that provide their production team and artistic team who often work with students from the University of Kent. However, they are always looking for new and eager participants so send an email if you are interested.

This practical workshop will offers hints and tips about how to submit a successful application for the Leadership Development Programme, a two-year graduate opportunity combining global best practice in leadership development and teacher training. 19:00 – 21:00 – Working in Finance

Venue: KLT1 and Keynes Atrium Open to: Economics EP Points Value: 10

If you are doing economics and want to see where it could get you in the working world, then this is the session for you. Recent Economics graduates will talk about how they got their jobs, what it is like to work in the financial sector and their own experiences since graduating. This session will give you the chance to talk with individuals who have had first hand experience of the graduate process. It will also be followed by an informal networking session.
